Antique Cupid Book RackEarly 20th century antique book rack made of cast metal depicting cupid at a canvas with a palette. The ends measure about 6 wide and 9 high. The space between the ends measures about 9 when fully closed and will stretch to about 14 wide before the sides come apart.

The leather handles are in great shape and the linen cockade is still sturdy enough for gentle use

I love the maroon covers with the silver spider & web embossed on the cover

adhered the ends with a gum

both as a general motif in decorative arts and as metaphors in morality tales about human behavior
