Gulchehre Crescent2002 Sterling silver My friend Arslan, who's a Uyghur from Kazakhstan, saw images of some of the Stars of David that I'd made out of Hebrew names. He asked me if I could do the same thing with a crescent and star with the name of his wife, Gulchehre, so I formed the Arabic text of her name into the pendant to the left, and apparently it's actually legible!

and then repeated that motif on the groom's ring with the chrysanthemum relief in place of the emerald
I flanked it with the two lavender agate slices because in addition to picking up the lightest color of the center stone
while the rest of the piece is lit from all sides with diffuse light
I also had leftover silver from that project
in our culture this is considered to be the work of God
Only after the ring shape was complete was the inner flat surface of gold soldered in place to give the ring greater strength and a smoother appearance
which is how I wound up chipping off half of the last knuckle on the right thumb
