Beryl (var: Aquamarine)
Description
Beryl (var: Aquamarine)This Aquamarine specimen was mined by Richard Kosnar in the late 1970's and his diggings produced some of the finest color, unheated Aquamarine in the world. Most of these crystals are not gem quality, but this crystal has approximately 90% gem clarity, which is very good for the material. This crystal is a fine, sharp, GEM gemmy, slightly hydrothermally etched, rich blue color prism of Aquamarine from one of the more obscure localities for the
Specimen # AMAZWH111917
and a rich blending of root beer
and rather etched
and the only point of contact is on the back/bottom where it detached from the pocket wall
The largest compound group of Calcite crystals measures 7
as this specimen was INCREDIBLY difficult to photograph
Specimen # BOL711B40
very well-formed
While these specimens are not a new find per se
This twin is a great example of this material as it shows a fairly “open” twin
This specimen was collected in 2000
and to find a stalky crystal like this is uncommon in my experience
